Ms. Pawley has 20 years of experience as a writer and editor with an emphasis on healthcare and science and over a decade of executive-level experience in healthcare management. She joined Managed Healthcare Unlimited (MHU) in 2006. She develops, writes, and edits MHU’s business communications materials, including articles, brochures, web content, and official correspondence, and she edits regulatory reports and proposals.
Prior to joining MHU, Ms. Pawley was a senior editor at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute for six years. Previously, during her career as a healthcare administrator, she held executive positions at UCLA Medical Center, UCI Medical Center, and Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She earned a master’s degree in public health with an emphasis on healthcare management from UCLA and a master’s degree in professional writing from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Cornett has nearly 30 years of combined experience in the private practice of psychiatry and executive leadership of national behavioral health plans. He has extensive experience as an NCQA surveyor reviewing Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services-approved plans serving Special Needs Populations. Dr. Cornett joined the MHU team in 2003 and participates as a surveyor in routine and focused reviews for the California Department of Managed Care in issues concerning behavior health, mental health parity and special needs populations.
Dr. Cornett has served as Medical Director for some of the most notable behavioral health plans in the country, in both the public and private sector. He led the San Francisco County Mental Health Plan and served as Associate Medical Director for Magellan Behavioral Health, BlueShield of California affiliate USBHPC and WellPoint, Anthem/BlueCross of California. He has also provided his expertise as a Technical and Expert Consultant during external quality reviews for the California Department of Mental Health.
Dr. Cornett is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from Amherst University and completed his psychiatry internship and residency at the University of California, San Francisco, Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute. Dr. Cornett is a graduate of the Medical School at the University of Texas.
Dr. Diemert has an extensive background as a practicing internal medicine specialist and a senior level executive overseeing health plan medical operations. He has served Managed Healthcare Unlimited (MHU) since 2008 as a consultant during routine and focused audits where he is an onsite medical authority in the areas of quality management and continuity and coordination of care.
Ms. Martin has 35 years of senior-level experience in managed care, providing leadership and expertise in commercial and government health plan operations, including compliance with state and federal regulations and quality improvement. She has consulted with Management Healthcare (MHU) since ____. Most recently, she led MHU in California’s implementation of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA), which was conducted in partnership with the state’s Department of Managed Health Care.
Dr. Ikeda has 30 years of experience as a practicing medical doctor and physician executive. As a Senior Consultant with MHU, he leads survey teams that conduct audits of California commercial HMOs, and he played a key role in the development of the California Department of Managed Health Care Technical Assistance Guide.
Dr. Ikeda spent 15 years with Harriman Jones Medical Group in Long Beach, first as a practicing pediatrician and then as the group’s Medical Director of Managed Care. He supervised all facets of the group’s medical operations, which provided care to 70,000 managed care lives at three clinics and two hospitals. Dr. Ikeda joined MHU in 2001. That same year, he shifted his professional focus to the pharmaceutical industry, accepting the Outcome Research Manager position at Pharmacia Corporation. He currently serves as Director, Regional Medical & Research Specialist at Pfizer, Inc., where he explores research opportunities and communicates scientific information regarding Pfizer’s pain portfolio.
Dr. Ikeda is Board Certified in pediatrics and licensed to practice medicine in California. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of California, Irvine, and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Connecticut, School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Ikeda earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University, where he graduated with honors.
